Tertiary Institutions have been urged to instill the knowledge of financial education in their students, as it is the only remedy to the unemployment problem prevalent in the country.
The Director, Landmark University Directorate of Entrepreneurship Studies and Chairman, Landmark University Agricultural Revolution Board, Prof. Sunday Oyewole Otokiti, gave this advice on Thursday, June 12, 2014, while presenting his paper titled, “ Contemporary Entrepreneurial Strategies and Innovation for Sustainable Economic Development ” in the annual program, organized by the Al-Hikmah University chapter of National Association of Business Administration and Management Students as part of the activities marking the Association’s Day.
He added that the only means of tackling the high rate of unemployment in Nigeria is by providing opportunities for financial education and instilling entrepreneurial skills in people.
In his own contribution, the second speaker at the occasion, Comrade Martin Egbanubi in his paper titled, “ Strategic Human Resources Management for Organisational Development,” implored all would-be entrepreneurs to adopt Human Resource (HR) Strategies, which are capable of driving their establishment to achieve its goals.
In her closing remarks at the occasion, the Ag. Head of the Department of Business Administration, Al-Hikmah University, Mrs. M.A. Aremu, expressed her gratitude to the Guest Speakers as well as Principal Officers of the University present at the occasion and urged all participants to tap entrepreneurial opportunities in order to have financial freedom.
