You can be better than Bill Gates & Steve Jobbs – Prof. Adewale
Graduates of the Computer Science programme in the 2013/2014 academic session have been charged to be extremely innovative in the ever-dynamic Information Technology (IT) World in order to be relevant and recognised.
The charge was contained in the address by Professor Olumide Sunday Adewale, Head of the Department of Computer Science, Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), at the Second Induction Ceremony of Al-Hikmah University, organised for the Computer Science Graduates on Monday, October 27, 2014.
Telling the Graduates that they could be better than Bill Gates and Steve Jobbs, Professor Adewale advised them to be inspired by the second stanza of Al-Hikmah University Anthem. He noted that though Bill Gates and Steve Jobbs were academic drop-outs, yet, they have become renowned in the world of Information Technology.
Prof. Adewale explained that Nigeria is in dire need of Information Technology for focused development, and assured the inductees that the sky would be the limit for them if only they could be hard-working, resourceful and dedicated.
The inductees were later made to recite the Computer Professionals (Registration Council of Nigeria) (CPN) Oath, which was administered by the Registrar of CPN, Mr. Sikiru Akanji Shehu, while certificates were presented to them by the guest lecturer, Prof. Adewale, assisted by the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Dr. A. O. Y. Raji.
Dignitaries at the occasion included the Vice Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Prof. Sulyman Age Abdulkareem, the Registrar, Alhaja (Chief) Rasheedat Oladimeji, and the Dean of Natural Sciences, Prof. G. A. Badmus.
