AL-HIKMAH HOSTS 2ND QUR`AN COMPETITION

The 2nd in the series of inter-University Qur`an Recitation/Memorization Competition was held between Tuesday, 17th and Wednesday, 18th May, 2016. The competition had thirteen Universities in attendance as against four during the maiden event held in 2015.
At the opening ceremony, the Imam Imale of Ilorin, Alhaji AbdulHameed Abdullahi, who was the Chairman, urged Muslims to make Qur`an their guide in all their affairs, as this was the only way by which their stay in this world and the hereafter could be worthwhile. The Imam, who expressed his happiness with Al-Hikmah University for the tradition of hosting the Annual Qur`an Competition, urged students to embrace the culture of reading and imbibe the teachings of the Holy Book.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Taofeek Ibrahim, spoke on the importance of learning and inculcating the teachings of the Qur`an. He said the crises engulfing the entire globe could be reduced or alleviated if leaders and followers took to the message of the Qur`an, which is a Divine call by Allah to the entire human race.
At the end of the competition, the closing ceremony was chaired by the Vice Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH), Prof. Suleiman Gbadegesin, who was represented by Prof. AbdulHakeem AbduurRaheem. AbdulFatai Sodiq won the best price, while the best price from Group B went to AbdulRazak and the best price for Group C went to Rahmatullahi AbdulWahab, all from the University of Ilorin. The Founder of Al-Hikmah University, Alhaji Chief (Dr) AbdulRaheem Oladimeji, (OFR) gave a cash donation of one hundred thousand Naira to the overall winner, and cash gifts to the panel of judges.
In attendance were the Olojoku of Ojokuland, Olomu of Omupo, other distinguished Muslim scholars as well as Muslim Women groups.
