<p><em>This study investigated the predictive influence of child-centered factors on irregular school attendance behaviour among secondary school students with</em> dyslexia in Owerri, Imo<em> State. Using a descriptive survey design; the study adopted purposive sampling technique to select 200 chronic school absentees (boys 120 and girls 80) with </em>dyslexia<em> from 10 randomly selected secondary school in Owerri. A validated self-developed questionnaire was used to collect data from participants. Descriptive statistics of mean, standard deviation and t-test were used to analyze data collected. The result at <strong>=</strong>3.00 decision point indicated that the participants agreed that their irregular attendance in school was due to the fact that: their classmates make fun of me when they speak in the class ( =3.48); they feel ashamed in their inability to pronounce words correctly( =3.43); they feel frustrated in their inability to read in class when asked to read by their teacher( =3.23); they are discouraged to attend school( =3.13); they are afraid they will be called out to read( =3.08); they do not feel happy attending school regularly( =3.19) and they feel they cannot make it in school( =3.31). Also, the result of the study revealed that there was no significant difference in the expressed irregular school attendance behaviour of male and female; young and old secondary school students with </em>dyslexia<em> due to child-centered factors. Therefore, special educators should utilize intervention programmes that will help secondary school students with </em>dyslexia<em> to overcome their challenges and develop the need confidence in their ability to succeed in school. </em></p>ajemc ajemc

<p><em>Professional counselling services assist in the total transformation of society making humanity the focus of development drive and seeking to develop man’s potentialities in totality. It inculcates the desirable values, norms, attitudes approved by the society in order to have good citizens who can live harmoniously for the general development of the nation. This paper examined various forms of professional counselling services such as human resources development, rehabilitation and behavioural change counselling among others that can foster national integration and development. It was recommended among others that injustice must be eliminated to create harmony of co-existence and cooperation, youths should learn to identify pride in self-worth regardless of race, colour or creed, dialogue and eventual consensus in conflict resolution must be learnt from childhood to eradicate violent adults.</em></p>ajemc ajemc

<p><em>Tuberculosis is one of the infectious diseases that had affected many developing nations, Nigeria inclusive, with high morbidity and mortality. Stigma had also contributed in no little way to patients’ adherence to treatment regimes. This research study was carried out to unveil the knowledge, perception and prevention behaviour to tuberculosis (TB) in Ilaje Local Government. A descriptive cross-sectional design was adopted in the study. Multistage sampling technique was used to select 198 respondents within people within the age of 18yrs to 65years. Self-structured questionnaire whose validity and reliability has been previously ascertained was used for data collections. Data collection was analyzed and the results were using descriptive statistics such as frequency and percentage. Result showed that respondents have 71.7% had good knowledge of tuberculosis and 96% of the respondents have good perception about TB. Good preventive behaviour to TB was high among the respondents. It is essential to improve the development of knowledge and health education programs for tuberculosis and also diagnosis of tuberculosis should be made closer to people for prompt diagnosis of the disease. </em></p>ajemc ajemc

<p><em>The study examined herders-farmers conflicts, infrastructural facilities and school enrolment in Benue State, Nigeria. Two research questions guided the study. The survey design method was adopted for the study. The population of the study is eleven thousand nine hundred eighty seven (11,987) teachers from 407 secondary schools in Benue State. A total of 400 teachers from one hundred secondary schools constituted the sample of the study. Purposive and proportionate sampling procedures were used to select the sample size for the study. The instrument for the study is a researcher designed questionnaire tagged ‘‘Herders-Farmers Conflicts, Infrastructural Facilities and School Enrolment Questionnaire’’ (HFCIFSEQ). The data collected were analysed using mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions. The result shows that there is a serious impact of herders-farmers conflicts on the provision of infrastructural facilities in secondary schools and on students’ enrolment in secondary schools in Benue State. The study recommended among other things that the main responsibility of any government is to protect lives and properties of her citizens. Therefore, the Federal government should rise up to its responsibility by providing enough security in all the affected areas and Federal government of Nigeria, state, local governments, individual and non-governmental organisations should collaborate and embark on reconstruction, building of schools, hospital, homes and other infrastructures damaged in the study areas. <p><em>Students’ motivation for learning is largely dependent on how effective their goal settings are in their activities. This study examines the impact of academic goal setting for students’ motivation for learning in the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. A descriptive survey of the differential type research design was used in carrying out this study. The population for this study consisted of undergraduates in University of Ilorin estimated at 44,566. A sample size of four hundred and twenty (420) participants was selected using a proportional and simple random sampling technique. The research instrument used was a researcher designed questionnaire titled "Impact of Academic Goal Setting on Students’ Motivation for Learning Questionnaire (IGSMLQ)". The instrument was validated by experts in the Department of Counsellor Education while the reliability of the instrument was ascertained through test retest method and a coefficient of 0.85 and 0.90 were obtained for the Parental Involvement Scale and Achievement Motivation Scale respectively. Two main research questions were answered while two null hypotheses were formulated and tested for the study. The data obtained for the study were analyzed using percentages and mean scores. The hypotheses formulated were tested using t-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at 0.05 level of significance. The study revealed that respondents know that learning in school will help them prepare well for the career that they have chosen and they also know the importance of what they are learning to their ambition. It was also revealed that the respondents understand that the more challenging their goals the better they will work and they also engage in task that are of interest to them. The findings show that there were no significant differences in the undergraduate motivation for learning based on gender. Based on the findings of this study, it was recommended that counsellors should try to motivate both male and female the same way. It was also recommended that counsellor should take academic into consideration when motivating learners.</em></p>ajemc ajemc

<p><em>Emotional abuse unlike many other forms of violence is a non-physical attack that is common among school children. Emotional abuse is one that degrades self-worth and interferes with development and productivity of a child. This study therefore investigated incidence of emotional abuse as expressed by secondary school students in Ilorin Metropolis, Kwara State. The simple random sampling technique was adopted for the selection of 200 respondents that participated in the study. The instrument used for this study was a self-developed questionnaire titled “Incidence of Emotional Abuse Questionnaire” (IEAQ). The instrument possessed a reliability coefficient of 0.69 after being subjected to the test-re-test procedure. The instrument consisted of 15 items which elicited information from the randomly selected respondents. A research question and three null hypotheses were formulated and tested with descriptive and inferential (t-test and analysis of variance (ANOVA) statistics. The hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that secondary school students expressed having experienced a lot of emotional abuse such as name-calling, verbal intimidation, isolation, ignoring, and humiliation. Further results indicated that class level, gender and family type did not influence the views of the respondents. It was recommended that school authorities should periodically enlighten the teachers and other school staff members on how to avoid the use of emotional abuse on students. Also, Government and Non- Governmental Organizations should from time to time organize community counselling programmes to sensitize the teachers on the effects of emotional abuse.</em><strong> </strong></p>ajemc ajemc

<p><em>This study examined principals’ appointment procedures and administrative effectiveness in Secondary Schools in Kwara State. The study adopted the descriptive research design. The population of the study comprised the secondary school teachers in all the three senatorial districts in Kwara State, Nigeria. Simple random, purposive and proportionate sampling technique was used to select 420 teachers from the schools. Data was collected using ‘Principals’ Appointment Procedures and Principals’ Administrative Effectiveness Questionnaire (PAPPAEQ)’ to find out principals’ appointment procedures and their level of administrative effectiveness in the implementation of quality education. To guide the study, three research hypotheses were raised. </em><em>The data were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Statistics. The findings revealed that there was significant relationship between principals’ appointment procedure and administrative effectiveness, crises management and resources management in Kwara State. The study concludes that there were variations in teachers’ perception of their principal’s appointment procedure. It was therefore recommended that government should put in place adequate mechanism to checkmate principal’ appointment procedure to schools so as to enhance principals’ leadership skills. </em></p>ajemc ajemc

<p><em>This research work examines home and school environments: implications for academic performance of secondary school students in Ilorin Kwara state. It discussed impacts of home and school environment on academic performance of secondary school students. Also, the paper states how environment and the students’ academic performance related. It was suggested that efforts must be taken to strengthen the school environment. Home environment factors include parents, socialization patterns, siblings, neighbors in the home, location, availability of modern gadgets at home etc. It is worthy of note to imagine that the type of family, parents, level of education and their socio-economic background can have possible effects on the academic performance of a children in school. This will boost the achievement of students. The principal of secondary schools should develop a network to understand the feelings of and needs of their students. </em></p>ajemc ajemc

<p><em>One of the biggest obstacles facing Nigeria today is an emerging national issues, which has led Nigeria to lose a lot of fortunes to corrupt practice, youth restiveness, terrorism and thuggery (criminal-behaviour). This paper aimed to establish moral awareness and psychological education as a foundation for national reforms in the contemporary Nigerian society. Moral and psychological education as a foundation can serves as a powerful instrument of social change and liberation. Nigeria now was faced with some outstanding emerging issues like, economic-recession, insecurity, organized violent groups, poverty, kidnapping, terrorism, and youth unemployment, and religious insurgence. Therefore, moral awareness and psychological education will serves as instrument of social order that provides guidelines and principles drives from its teaching to develop acceptable behaviour such as trust, forgiveness, honesty, integrity, confidence and commitment among people that strive for unity, peaceful coexistence and moral foundation for achieving development in contemporary Nigerian society. 2021-06-092021-06-09316673A SURVEY OF IMPLEMENTATION OF BASIC TECHNOLOGY CURRICULUM IN JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN OYO SOUTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT

<p><em>Basic Technology curriculum was designed to offer pre-requisite knowledge in Junior Secondary School (JSS) to students promoted to Senior Secondary School (SSS) in preparation for 34 trade subjects. Hence, this study assessed the relevance of objectives of the curriculum and the implementation strategies while the adequacy of the teaching resources was examined. The study adopted descriptive survey design of an ex-post facto type. Random sampling technique was employed to select 9 out of 11 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Oyo South Senatorial district. 4 JSS were randomly selected from each of the 9 LGAs totaling 36 JSS. All the 260 teaching staff of the 36 JSS was purposively selected. 50% of the JSS III in each of the 36 JSS were randomly selected making a total of 664 students. All the 41 inspectors of education covering JSS in 11 LGAs under study were purposively selected. The grand total of sampled participants is 965. A validated instrument tag Implementation of Basic Technology Curriculum Questionnaire (SIBTCQ) (0.79) was used to collect data. Data were analysed with the use of descriptive statistical tool of frequency and percentage count. The findings revealed that majority of the stakeholders perceived objectives of Basic Technology curriculum to be relevant to societal needs. The result also showed that adequate implementation strategies were put in place in JSS as perceived by the majority of the stakeholders. However, majority of the stakeholders perceived material resources as not being adequately supplied both human and non-human. Hence, it is recommended that the school authorities need to supply basic material resources to JSS for effective implementation of Basic Technology Curriculum.</em></p>ajemc ajemc

The paper defined Guidance as any organized activities, formal or informal designed to help the overall development of individuals, it defined Counselling as a face to face interaction between a professional and a client who is seeking for professional solution to recurring problems. It also states the goals of Guidance and Counselling and discussed the concept of restructuring quality teaching and learning in guidance and counselling. Furthermore, the paper states some resources which can be put in place for effective guidance and counselling services. The paper recommends that, adequate human and material resources should be provided to assist guidance and counselling services in schools, school heads should make funds available to guidance/counsellor for procurement of counselling resources, guidance and counselling centres should be established in all schools in Nigeria, school counsellors should learn to improvised counselling resources or materials. <p><em>The study focused on students’ enrolment and performances in marketing examination in Oyo State, was an empirical effort looking into enrolment and performance of students in marketing examination. The study was motivated by the fact that the government of the day is showing a lot of interest and concern over the growing trade subjects, entrepreneurial education and needs to introduce marketing as a subject at senior secondary schools level. The study aims at finding out if there was any significant percentage change in the students offering marketing in senior secondary schools, if any percentage change exists in performance of students offering marketing in senior secondary schools at WASSCE and NECO (SSCE). The performance of students totaled 2,845 from ten (10) secondary schools in Ogbomoso zone comprising of five local government areas; Ogbomoso South, Ogbomoso North, Ogo oluwa, Oriire and Surulere from 2014-2016 was used for the study. Survey research design was adopted for the conduct of the study and analysis of the data was carried out using percentage. It was found out that the total number of students offering marketing in both WASSCE and NECO (SSCE) increases every year but the percentage enrolment in </em>WASSCE<em> was a bit increase while NECO(SSCE) was gradually increasing in an unpredictable manner. It was concluded that in the nearest future Nigeria will not only become self-reliance in skills acquisition and entrepreneurial oriented but could also become one of the world’s wealth creation, employment generation, concepts and skills for attitudinal and behavioural change that are production oriented. It was recommended that admission into tertiary institutions should require at least pass in marketing at O level before offer admission for marketing education.</em></p>ajemc ajemc

<p><em>Health literacy is an essential tool in combating disease outbreaks especially at this time of the pandemic. This study examined the promotion of disease outbreak management through health education for national security in Oyo Township. Two research hypotheses were generated to guide the study. </em><em>The study employed a descriptive survey research design. The population for the study comprised the educated in Oyo. The sample comprised 400 respondents. </em><em>A self-developed questionnaire was used to collect data. A test re-test form of data, using Spearman-Brown rank-order correlation</em><em> w</em><em>as </em><em>used to </em><em>ascertain </em><em>itsreliability</em><em> with the value(r = </em><em>0.</em><em>78). Findings from the study showed that health education significantly promoted effective disease outbreak management among people in Oyo town as well as effective disease outbreak management had the potential of securing people from infectious disease in Oyo township. It was thus recommended that health education on disease outbreak management should be made public through different possible available channels of communication to acquaint the individual with the appropriate steps to be taken for safety during the disease outbreak period.</em></p>ajemc ajemc

<p><em>This paper examined </em><em>accounting skills acquisition among business education students: panacea for poverty reduction in Oyo State, Nigeria</em><em>. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. It was guided by two research questions. The population of the study comprised 2,400 final year students in tertiary institutions of Oyo State Offering Business Education Programme and 10% representing 240 respondents form the sample size for the study. A self-structured questionnaire titled: Accounting Skills Acquisition among Undergraduates for sustainable Development Questionnaire validated by three (3) senior lecturers was used for data collection. The internal consistency of the instrument was established using Cronbach Alpha and co-efficient of .80 was obtained. The research questions were answered using mean and standard deviation. The findings showed among others that ability to: keep up to date credit sales records, demonstrate simple budgeting, undertake basic steps in starting a business, implement plans for goal attainment, take risks and independent actions, take appropriate decisions when necessary, evaluate business activities and others are the benefits of accounting education skills required for successful business operation by business education graduates. Based on the finding the study recommended among others that lecturers should re-dedicate themselves by attending more workshops, seminars to acquaint themselves with accounting education skills so that they can in turn, impart same in the students and that Business Education students should be made to acquire accounting skills so as to contribute meaningfully to the economy of the country for poverty reduction. </em></p>ajemc ajemc

<p><em>This study investigated the effect of downstream deregulation of the petroleum sector on the economic development of Nigeria from 2004-2019. Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method and regression equations were employed. Unit root test was done using Augmented Dickey Fuller technique (ADF), while cointegration was done using the Johansen test. Vector error cointegration method (VECM) was used to determine both the long and short run term causality between the study variables. The study found the presence of cointegration among the study variables. However, there was no long or short run term causality between oil revenue and development indicators such as education, health, and agriculture. Hence a conclusion that downstream deregulation of the petroleum sector has not yet promoted economic development in Nigeria. The study recommends that corruption, smuggling of petroleum products and inappropriate pricing of oil products be addressed through accountability, capacity building of the police/ judiciary departments through increase of budget and technical means</em></p>ajemc ajemc

<p><strong>Abstract </strong></p> <p><em>This study investigated the management supervisory strategies and effective instructional delivery </em></p> <p><em>in business education programmes in colleges of education in Kwara state. A descriptive survey </em></p> <p><em>research was adopted for this study. The population of this study comprises all the business </em></p> <p><em>educators in colleges of education (state and private) in Kwara State. The researchers sampled </em></p> <p><em>three state and three private colleges of education from which 70 respondents were sampled </em></p> <p><em>altogether through a purposive sampling technique. The instrument for data collection employed </em></p> <p><em>by the researchers was questionnaire. This was validated by experts in measurement and </em></p> <p><em>evaluation. The reliability of the instrument was determined through a test-retest method and </em></p> <p><em>with the coefficient alpha value of 0.79. The data collected were analyzed using mean and </em></p> <p><em>standard deviation for research questions while Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) </em></p> <p><em>was used to test the null hypotheses. Results of the analysis revealed that there was no significant </em></p> <p><em>difference on the responses of male and female business educators on the influence of workshop </em></p> <p><em>and training on the instructional delivery of business education programme in colleges of </em></p> <p><em>education in Kwara State. It was thereafter recommended among others that: management of the </em></p> <p><em>colleges of education in Kwara State should make efforts at seeing that business educators attend </em></p> <p><em>workshops both within and outside the State. </em></p>ajemc ajemc

<p><strong>Abstract </strong></p> <p><em>This study determined the influence of Entrepreneurship Training and Financial Status on </em></p> <p><em>Entrepreneurial Intention among National Diploma students in Business Management in North</em></p> <p><em>Eastern Nigeria. The study was guided by two objectives, with corresponding research questions </em></p> <p><em>and null hypotheses. Relevant literature related to the study was reviewed. The design for the </em></p> <p><em>study was descriptive survey. The population of the study comprised 24,625 National Diploma II </em></p> <p><em>students of Schools of Business studies of all the Polytechnics in North-Eastern Nigeria. The </em></p> <p><em>researcher sampled 379 subjects using proportionate random sampling technique. The </em></p> <p><em>instrument for data collection was adaptation from the existing instruments. The instrument was </em></p> <p><em>validated by 4 experts. The instrument was tested and reliability coefficient of 0.80 was obtained. </em></p> <p><em>The research questions were answered using descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) </em></p> <p><em>while the hypotheses were tested using regression analysis. The study revealed that financial </em></p> <p><em>status has to a large extent influenced students’ entrepreneurial intention for self-reliance, and </em></p> <p><em>entrepreneurship training has moderate extent determined entrepreneurial intention of National </em></p> <p><em>Diploma students in business studies in North-Eastern, Nigeria. Based on the results, it was </em></p> <p><em>recommended, that The Government should make accessible loans available for graduates of the </em></p> <p><em>National Diploma in business studies so as to start up their businesses; Entrepreneurial </em></p> <p><em>education and training should be upheld, increase awareness and change the mind-set of the </em></p> <p><em>students toward imbibing entrepreneurial culture and reduce over reliance on government. </em></p>ajemc ajemc

<p><em>This study is set to investigate the influence of Point of Sales Services on the sales performance of SMEs in Nigeria Campuses with a specific interest in ABU Zaria, Samaru Campus. The need for agent bank has since been overdue in Nigeria, looking at the continued advent of insecurity and Kidnap of traders and businessmen. Point of Sales (POS) service is the most common form of agent banking in the financial spheres in Nigeria, specifically on university campuses. This study comprises of all owners of SMEs with a capital strength of N500, 000 and above in the 2 community markets and the social center in ABU Zaria main Campus Kaduna state. This study investigated the influence of Point of Sales Services on the sales performance of SMEs in Nigeria</em><em> </em><em>Campuses with a specific interest in ABU Zaria, Samaru Campus. 2 research questions and hypotheses were formulated to guide the researcher. A structured survey questionnaire tagged “Point of Sales on Sales Performance Questionnaire” (PSPQ) was used to elicit responses from the respondents. From the result of the study, it was revealed that availability of Point of Sales Services significantly increase sales performance of SMEs in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State. And that access to Point of Sales Services do significant influence sales performance of SMEs in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State. The researcher recommended that point of sales service should be designed by the commercial banks in such a way that its service charge and administrative bottleneck be minimized to the barest minimum, by maintaining single-digit charges. And the Central Bank should re-orient the citizenry about the need for a cashless society and its benefits by organizing interactive session to hear the true state of happening in the local community</em></p> <p> </p>ajemc ajemc

<p>This study is titled “Restoring Students’ Academic Achievement in Post Covid-19 Classroom <br>through Blended Learning Environment in Kaduna State, Nigeria”. The study is aimed at <br>determining impact of blended learning environment in restoring students’ academic achievement <br>in post covid-19 classroom through blended learning environment in secondary schools in <br>Kaduna State, Nigeria. The research question and null hypothesis were postulated based on the <br>objective raised. The study was a non-equivalent pre and post-test comparison group design. The <br>population consists of junior secondary schools students in Zaria Education Zone numbering <br>26,322 as at 2016/2017 academic session. However, 120 were purposively used. The Social <br>Studies Achievement Test (SOSAT) was used as the data collection instrument. The instrument <br>was duly validated by experts. The Guttmann split half method was used in determining reliability <br>coefficient and 0.89 was realised. The arithmetic means, standard deviation and independent<br>samples t-test were used as data analysis tools. The researchers found from the study that <br>students taught in a blended learning environment (BLE) outperformed students taught in a <br>traditional learning environment (TLE). Based on the findings, it was recommended among <br>others that blended learning environment to be incorporated as instructional strategy of choice <br>for Social Studies teaching in post covid-19 classroom.</p>ajemc ajemc

<p>The goal of educational institutions to bring forth graduates who have satisfied requirements <br>both in conduct and academic, has made the concept of dishonesty of utmost concern. The fact <br>that dishonesty has become prevalent and destructive of the reputation of educational institutions <br>also makes it a matter of interest. As a psychological construct, personal dishonesty has been <br>revealed as a pervasive problem that continues to plague academic institutions and distort the <br>values of learning. The present study exudes the predicting impact of self-control, selfsurveillance and planned behaviour on personal dishonesty among university postgraduate <br>students in south-western Nigeria. Responses were elicited using validated instruments and the <br>influence of these factors on the prediction of personal dishonesty has been established. <br>Implications and recommendations for possible intervention are also explained.</p>ajemc ajemc

<p>The study was carried out to investigate the effects of WhatsApp on the academic performance of <br>business education students in cost accounting in Federal Colleges of Education in North-West <br>Nigeria. Quasi experimental design was adopted for the study. In order to achieve this, three <br>specific objectives and three research questions were raised. Three null hypotheses were tested <br>for the study. The population of the study was 241 students and the sample was 91. Cost <br>Accounting Performance Test (CAPT) was used as the instrument for data collection. The <br>instrument consisted of two sections. Section A was the pre-test and section B was the post-test. <br>The data collection procedure lasted for five weeks. The research questions one to three were <br>answered using mean and standard deviation. Null hypotheses one to three were tested using <br>Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). All the hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. <br>Null hypotheses one were rejected, while hypotheses two and three were retained. The study <br>found that WhatsApp had positive effects on the academic performance of Business Education <br>students in Cost accounting. However, there was no significant gender effect on the academic <br>performance of male and female students who were taught cost accounting using WhatsApp. <br>There was a significant difference in the academic performance of business education students <br>taught Cost Accounting using WhatsApp and lecture method. Based on the findings, it was <br>concluded that WhatsApp affected the academic performance of business education students in <br>cost accounting. It was recommended among others that WhatsApp should be used to teach cost <br>accounting to Business Education students in Colleges of Education.</p>ajemc ajemc

<p>This study was designed to ascertain teacher qualification and experience as predictors for <br>inclusive sports participation among special needs pupils in special school for the handicapped <br>Oyo, Oyo State. The population consisted of teachers and pupils in Oyo special school for the <br>handicapped. Two hundred and sixteen (216) respondents were stratified and purposively <br>selected. The instrument used for data collection was self developed questionnaire with three <br>scales that yielded the following reliability values through Cronbanch alpha; Teacher <br>Qualification Scale (TQS) = 0.77, Experience Scale (ES) = 0.79 and Inclusive Sports <br>Participation Scale (ISPS) =0.71. Frequency counts and percentage were used for demographic <br>data while multiple regression statistic was used to test the hypotheses. The null hypotheses <br>tested at 0.05 alpha level were rejected which implying thateducational qualification and <br>experience were relatively and compositely significant to predicts sports participation among <br>special needs pupils in special school for the handicapped Oyo, Oyo State. Based on the results, <br>it was recommended that academically sound and knowledgeable teacher on inclusive sports <br>should be employed to enhance sports participation among pupils in special schools. <p>The place of resources (human and material) cannot be over-emphasized. It is against this <br>background that this study examined perception of principals on the distribution of instructional <br>materials in the Upper Basic Schools in Kwara Central. The study is a descriptive study of the <br>survey type, three research questions were raised and three hypotheses were formulated and <br>tested to guide the study. The population of the study was all the principals in Kwara Central. <br>Simple random sampling technique was used to select 100 respondents from 160 Upper Basic <br>Schools in Kwara Central. The data was collected using Perception of Principals on Distribution <br>of Instructional Materials in Upper Basic Schools Questionnaire (PPDIMUBSQ) which was <br>analyzed using t-test statistics. Findings from the study revealed that; there was no significant <br>difference in the in the perception of principals on the distribution of instructional materials in <br>Upper Basic Schools in Kwara Central based on gender, there was no significant difference in <br>the in the perception of principals on the distribution of instructional materials in Upper Basic <br>Schools in Kwara Central based on age, there was no significant difference in the in the <br>perception of principals on the distribution of instructional materials in Upper Basic Schools in <br>Kwara Central based on administrative years of experience. Based on the findings, it was that <br>without the distribution of adequate and appropriate instructional materials to Upper Basic <br>Schools is like fetching water with the local basket. It was recommended that; appropriate <br>instructional materials should be made available in all the schools at the basic education level to <br>ensure quality teaching and learning</p>ajemc ajemc

<p>Emerging technologies (ET) for library services abound. Emerging technology comprise of technological tools that facilitate user services, instruction, library management and technical services. The emergence of these technologies has provided libraries across the globe great opportunities to enhance provision of library and information services to their users. Many libraries particularly of the developed countries have been providing library and information services through the use of ET such as computer, RFID and communication technologies. Public libraries in Nigeria should not be an exception in embracing and utilizing these technologies in order to serve their users in a more efficient and effective ways. Through the review of available literature, this paper seeks to identify various types of ET for libraries and their uses in public library services. It also explores Public libraries in Nigeria, opportunities for adoption and the challenges public libraries are likely to face towards the utilization of ET.
