IMPROVING SCIECE CLASSROOM TEACHING PERFORMANCE THROUGH MODEL OF IN-SERVICE TRAINING

Abstract
In-service training or education in most cases is meant to provide opportunity for the teachers to improve themselves professionally, most especially in the area of acquisition of additional information, knowledge, skills and teaching pedagogy. However it has been observed that the participants after the training do not succeed in bringing about changes in attitudes or performance of their student due to poor organization or planning of the workshop or conferences and seminars. For this reason the authors proposed a new Model of In-service training that has in built feedback mechanism for compliance and a follow up. This paper therefore, discussed the importance of the organization context and feedback mechanism of the newly development model for in-service training. On the basis of the identified problems, recommendations were made to include: identification of the needs of the participants, adequate organization and follow up inform of feedback for the participants towards improving In-service education programme.
