TEACHER’S PROFICIENCY IN THE USE OF ICT AND TEACHING AND LEARNING OF NCE SANDWICH STUDENTS IN FCE, ABEOKUTA

Abstract
Infusion of technologies into the society had become so prevalent that almost everywhere at once; students are now found of using ICT on daily basis. Earlier researchers have carried out research works on this phenomenon. In order to add value to this, the present study investigated Teacher’s Proficiency in the use of ICT and Teaching and Learning of NCE Sandwich Students in Federal College of Education, Abeokuta. Descriptive survey research design was used for the study. The population of the study was all sandwich students of FCE, Abeokuta. 15 students were randomly selected from each of the levels of sandwich students (300 to 500levels) while only 5 students were selected from 200 levels. The total number of respondents was 50 students. Two research questions were raised and answered. The data collected were analysed using mean score and standard deviation. The results revealed that: proficiency in the use of ICT has relationship with teaching and learning of sandwich students and also the study revealed that teacher’s mastery of subject area also affected teaching and learning of students. The study therefore recommended that government and management of the colleges are advised to make ICT available, accessible and affordable to the members of college community, that the college management should motivate teachers and students to use available ICT in the college as medium of instruction among others.
